What sets Edson apart is our willingness to work closely with a customer to identify challenges and find the perfect packaging solution for a certain application. An article in Tissue Online North America (TONA) we get an inside look at the process for finding the correct case packing solution.
One of the most significant challenges for converted paper, tissue, and nonwoven manufacturers is having limited space for operations. For this reason, Edson needed to create a solution that would provide their world-class case packing technology in a compact footprint. From this idea came the Edson 3600C compact case packer, which is available in a 20′ x 26′ overall footprint.
Outside of space limitations, the cost of a packaging solution can be a serious indicator of its compatibility. According to Josh Goulet, Account Manager for Edson, “The No. 1 criteria for selecting a case packer is typically the production speed a customer is looking to obtain. The solution for an application calling for 10 cases per minute is going to be different than one looking for 20 cases per minute. Time and again, speed will dictate which direction the recommended solution will go.” Smaller manufacturers looking to add automation with a compact footprint might not need to accomplish 20 cases per minute.
The last determining factor is the cost of a system. According to Josh Goulet, “Case packers are intricate systems, and the price reflects that level of complexity. Again, the application is going to drive the cost of the system. Producing 26 cases per minute is going to take a machine engineered to handle that speed and will be priced accordingly. On the other hand, a multi-million-dollar system is not needed to accommodate a production run of 5 cases per minute.”
